Betzi Robinson will be teaching two workshops on Sumi-e techniques in 2012 for the Art League at the Torpedo Factory in Alexandria, Virginia.

JUMPSTART IN SUMI-E: January 7 and 8, 2012. 10:00 AM to 4:00 PM - A course designed for those interested in learning more about brush painting. Step by step instruction in the fundamentals and traditions of this ancient art. No previous painting experience is necessary but artists working in other mediums are welcome.

SUMI-E TECHNIQUE : P'O MO : March 24 and 25, 2012. 10:00 AM to 4:00 PM. P'O MO or 'Splash Ink' in an ancient tradition carried into the 21st century by using watercolors on Japanese Gold Shikishi boards. Colors move and mix themselves, creating spontaneous effects. Previous experience in sumi-e is not necessary. Painters of all levels or mediums are welcome.
